Self Conscious Selfies – Time for an S-Lift

ready for SliftIf you don’t like the look of yourself in a “selfie”,  Georgia Dermatology Center suggests that maybe this is the time to consider an S-Lift.

A relatively new phenomenon, hand-held cellphones and pad devices have been recent offenders held responsible for impairing our overall health, our eye site, our hearing, our sleep patterns, irradiating us, causing accidents, and even spoiling our personal relationships. It has also been suggested that smartphones can prematurely age you and contribute to a drooping jawline due to the consistent “downward gaze” position, which tends to shorten the neck muscles while simultaneously increasing the dreaded gravitational pull on the jowl area. And there is another potential side-effect – with the advent of the “selfie” – technology projects an instant reflection of yourself from a not-so-flattering angle, emphasizing a combination of sagging jowls, double chins, wrinkles and creases, and marionette lines.

S-Lift at Georgia Dermatology Center for Selfie Love

These physical facial symptoms of aging can be attributed to the interrelationship of genetics, variations in weight, gravitational pull, sun exposure, loss of collagen, progressive skin laxity, repositioning of fat and soft tissue loss. So, if bone loss is not an issue, and non-surgical cosmetic dermatology techniques ranging from: face yoga; home gym neckline trainers and other facial exercises; chin sculpting; dermal fillers, wrinkle inhibitor injections such as Botox; skin-tightening lotions and facials; liquid facelift, and liposuction/laser tighteners just haven’t resulted in a look you love to look at, Georgia Dermatology Center, serving patients from all over the north Atlanta area including Cumming, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Roswell and Milton, Georgia, offers the option of the S-Lift to recapture the look you love to look at.

What are the Benefits of an S-Lift at Georgia Dermatology Center?

  • Improves skin elasticity
  • Restores muscle tone in the face and neck
  • Eliminates jowls
  • Diminishes creases around the nose and mouth

What is the S-Lift?

The S-Lift is known by a variety of different names, including the baby boomer facelift, limited-incision facelift, short scar facelift, lunchtime lift or mini-lift. Whatever the term, it can improve the most visible signs of aging by “setting back the clock,” although like any cosmetic procedure, it cannot stop the aging process. Here’s the basic concept – if you had an identical twin, and you had an S-Lift and your twin did not, even as you both continue to age – you will always look better than your twin.

The S-Lift is generally appropriate for people who show aging in the mid-face yet do not have a severe amount of excess skin or deep tissue loss around their jaw line and neck. The process can be performed alone, or supplemented by other cosmetic dermatology facial rejuvenation procedures offered at Georgia Dermatology Center. The S-Lift creates an overall lift to the lower third of a patient’s face and cheeks, in order to create a natural improvement to one’s appearance that cannot be achieved by alternative skin rejuvenation options alone.

The procedure involves repositioning all the lower portions of the face that show signs of aging. Basically, Dr. Gross will permanently suspend and tighten the muscles in the lower face and neck, and remove excess skin. To improve the contour, fat may be trimmed or suctioned from the cheeks and around the neck and chin. The incisions are approximately one-half the length of a traditional facelift incision and are placed with an S shape excision forward of the ears. This helps reduce potential for complications and yields a faster recovery time than traditional facelift. Dr. Gross will determine the exact placement of incisions and the sequence of repositioning depending on your facial structure, skin condition, targeted improvement areas, and several other factors individual to each patient.

What Can I Expect from the S-Lift Procedure?

The S-Lift is performed in Dr. Gross’s office under local anesthesia and oral sedation. The procedure normally takes 60-90 minutes. Recovery time varies among patients – some patients return to work or routine daily activities within 2 to 3 days; others may require longer recovery periods based on health factors and specifics of the procedure.

Typically results last for 7-10 years, which may be supplemented with other facial rejuvenation options such as botox, dermal fillers, skin peels or laser treatments to extend the life of the procedure. Because of his excellent quality and service, Dr. Gross has found his patients to be satisfied with the short and long-term natural and youthful facial improvements as a result of the S-Lift. So if you are ready to take selfies all day long and love the way you look, it’s time to schedule your consultation with Dr. Gross at the Georgia Dermatology Center in Cumming, Georgia.
